Sony will only have 400,000 PS3's avaliable for the North American launch, 100,000 for the Japanese launch, and the European launch has been pushed back until next year. of the Cell processor wont even begin until the end of the month, so even the 500,000 units is an estimate.

The japanese launch day for the PS3 could be 11/11 according to Gamespot, based on the release dates of six launch titles:

I wouldn't want to get a system that costs $600-$700 and the games cost $100. You'll be looking at about a grand right there if you're getting a few more games with it. Plus, Sony has released systems with disc formats that are already obsolete or about to. The UMD discs for the PSP are already obsolete and were replaced by mini discs; Blu-Ray, for instance, will soon become obsolete, because the discs are expensive and don't store as much information than the HD-DVD. That's why Blu-Ray will soon lose the next-gen DVD format and would become the next Betamax, and the HD-DVD will become the next VHS. Plus, I don't want a system that's suppose to be "more of a computer." PS3 Has pretty much shot itself in the foot.

Well the first 50 GB BR disc comes out tomorrow (Click), but I agree, BR is doomed to failure just because Sony created it.

As for Oblivion on the PS3, that is nice, however, Oblivion is just a boring game, so I can care less.

GP, why don't you elabroate more on what you said. Tell us why you think they shot themselves in the foot because sounds like you don't even know a whole hell of a lot about the prices. The system will cost $500 and $600. Games will NOT cost $100. Sony hasn't come out and said what they will be pricing their games at, but others have said $60.

Hell, why don't you both go ahead and put your money where your mouth is. Prove to us here on the site that Blu-Ray is a failure. Prove to us that the PS3, which isn't even out yet ANYWHERE, is already screwed.

I already have put my money down by buying an HD-DVD player and about 21 HD-DVDs at this point in time (with 3 more out today).
