Madman will be releasing Godzilla vs. Mothra '92 in November:

I'd recommend it to those who only have the Sony DVD. I'm especially looking forward to getting Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah when that comes out.

I have a question. The Madman R4 Mothra vs. Godzilla DVD includes both the Japanese and US versions of the film. Is the US version in widescreen or fullscreen? Because if it's in complete widescreen, then people that are up in arms about Classic Media's upcoming release of MvsG featuring the US version cropped to 1.78:1 will have an alternative.

I've been meaning to inquire after this for a while: does anybody else's player have a problem with these discs? I've got an Oppo machine and my Madman disc of Gojira/Godzilla (the only one I've got) still has a problem playing in it (even though the Oppo is PAL-converting). The picture speeds up (for a fraction of a second) every few seconds. I'm sure this is due to the PAL encoding, but when I play it on my DVD drive in my 'puter there's no problem at all.

I was told the Oppo machine did PAL conversion great, and I've played other PAL discs in it (well, one or two) and they were fine. I'm a little hesitant to order more of these Eastern Eye/Madman discs for this reason (though I'd like to). Only being able to watch 'em on my computer (or put up with the PAL problem on my Oppo) ain't real exciting.

Anybody else have this problem? Is it just with the Gojira/Godzilla disc (doubtful, I'll admit)?

They work great on my cyberhome.

If your player plays other PAL discs fine, and your PC plays this one fine, it may be just your player having a little trouble reading that particular disc (like a media issue rather than an encoding/conversion issue). You might try making a backup of your disc and see if your player handles the backup better.

Madman has announced Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah for December!:

I hope the reverse-cover is the kick-ass artwork poster (Easily one of the best monster posters EVER!).

If these were R1 releases I'd get them on the release dates, but I'll probably be putting Megalon, King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Destoroyah on my Christmas list.

Has anyone done comparisons of these DVDs (or whichever are already out) to past releases? I'd like to know how the general quality is. Either way, I still want the Heisei movies for the Japanese tracks, and also the fact King Ghidorah and Mothra will be in widescreen.

Benjamin Haines posted some screencap comparisons between the ADV, Toho and Madman versions of Destroy All Monsters a little way down page 6,

It looks like the Toho version is the best of the three with Madman's coming in just a hair behind it, looking slightly darker, with ADV's R1 coming in an unsurprising third. Overall Madman's DAM release looks really good though, and I doubt you'd even really notice the difference between it and the Toho R2 unless you compared them side by side, as is the case here, so I'm very excited about picking it (and several other of their dvds) up.
