Custom DVD cover art

Hey guys, I'm new here (just found this board a few days ago) but I was looking over the custom DVD cover art, and was so impressed and inspired that I decided to give it a try myself. Here's what I've got so far:



When I get the rest of the discs finished, the spines will all line up to form one big Godzilla logo, similar to the one used on the front and back of the box art. This concept was "borrowed" from the The Kez Godzilla/Kaiju DVD Library (shown here: ) but I didn't like the look of it 100%. I love the use of the original poster art on the front, but the spines were too boring for me

I'm also still playing around with ideas for the back, as I'm not 100% satisfied with what I've done so far. Any ideas that you may have to improve upon this design would be greatly appreciated.

The only other obstacle I've run into is that the only pics I have of the original poster art is what I can find online, which is not great quality. If anyone knows of a way for me to get my hands on some hi-res versions of the original posters, please let me know.

Oh damn. Uh, sorry for completely forgetting this topic!

I was trying to be able to scan a whole bunch of these at once, but my image scanner is working like a little piece of "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" as always. I swear to God, I'm gonna take a sledgehammer to it and this whole computer before the day I die.

I'm having to scan these posters repeatedly before the image scanner finally decides to not display them crookedly. So, after about 20 scans which could have been 20 properly-displayed posters, I give you three different posters for The Return of Godzilla.

Ben, took a look at your posters...for DVD covers the posters need to be scanned full size and not compressed. Take a look at the many covers in this thread and see how large they are, the size is needed for a nice print.

Wow, that's a great website reference. Thanks for that link.

As for the CW posters, I'll have to see what I can scan from the book. I think the part 2 one is in there, I'm 99% sure the hyperspace one is there. I don't think the other is though. If I can scan them, I'll post the links here.

Quick update on my set... I've switched over from the standard amaray case size to the thinpak size, since there are 28 discs, to save a little shelf space. I've pretty much completed the spanning spine image at this point, about 98% - I just need to do a little tweaking, since some of the alignments got all wonky somehow.

Though as nice as the english text looks, I personally would just stick to the Japanese version of Godzilla's name. I've always kinda felt that particular Godzilla logo design (dating back to G85?) looked kinda tacky.

This one is for the Godzilla Final Battle DVD that was given away with advance ticket sales of Final Wars. It only came in a paper case, so I thought I'd give the lucky people who own it a better way to store it. Here it is!
