It's out. Picked up mine today at the local Walmart also.

The picture quality is excellent. I will not say they are using the Panasonic remasters as there seems to be a very, very, very miniscule hint of grain to the image quality. That said, the colors are vibrant and clear. Very crisp. I don't think anyone will be let down with the audio or visual aspect. Now, this is only taking in a few quick episodes. I naturally have to check the others but I really like what I'm seeing.

The only bummer is that there were NO COLLECTIBLE TIN FOILED CARDS AND THE MONSTER ENCYCLOPEDIA WAS NOT IN IT EITHER.

UPDATE: The "Kaiju Encyclopedia" is on the first disc. You get a gallery of the monsters and a brief history of them. Pretty cool!

Still, there were not trading cards. Oh well.

Either this was a production mistake where they missed putting in these items or legalities forced them to drop the cards and kaiju booklet.

Still, I have to hand it to BCI, this is a really good dvd set. They treated the property with the utmost respect and the packaging and presentation is TOP NOTCH.

My pictures DO NOT do the set justice. But here you go:

I can't wait until my copy arrives in the mail.

You've got to give BCI credit, though. Even though they had to go ahead and do the set without the involvement of Tsuburaya, they appeared to have put a lot of work into the set. The package design looks really incredible. I'm interested in the video and audio quality. It seems like most reviewers are content with it, and the screen grab in that one review looks pretty decent.

It'll be a blast experiencing this show for the first time, I'm sure.

Here's a featurette from one of the ULTRAMAN ACE DVDs, showing the quality between the original prints (as used on the laser discs) and the new remasters (for the Region 2 DVDs).
