Superman didn't behave like a "dead beat dad" at all! LOL Apparently somebody needs to go hang around a court house and see what a REAL Deadbeat dad is.
And as far as having a beer goes...WTF?!? What's wrong with having a beer with your coworkers after a long day? Not sure what kind of ultra conservative boot camp some people come from...but it's time to rejoin the rest of society!
The movie was very well done. Nothing ground breaking (though some of the effects were AWESOME), but Superman returned and the audience clapped at the end. Nuff said.

^ hear hear!
the beer issue-Superman was never a southern Baptist. Again a very human thing given he just found out his love had moved on. No where near his true drunk thing in Supes III
deadbeat dad- Again he didn't find out until the end. What was he supposed to do?"urrr Lois lets done get hitched and do right by the youngun". I think it was a bittersweet "stay tuned" in that Supes has to let go of Lois and the boy for now as that is the best thing for them. Mirroring(remember his speech) what his dad did for HIM. Also again a to be continued element which I hope they explore!
I do think this movie was meant to simply "return" superman. No it didn't do it as awesome as say Bats or Spidey, but it was pretty darn good and had a surprising amount of heart.
Additional note-I think we will find the film was very rushed. There were TONS of scenes and drama that was edited. Im betting simply cuz the movie would have been 4 hours. So maybe we'll see a Jacksonesque extended DVD.

I hope my words don't piss people off but...
MAN THAT MOVIE WAS BORING. The opening credits were the best part and Williams score replayed. Glad people liked it though.
