Son of Godzilla would probably be the best first Godzilla experience for a little kid like that. I can't believe I and everybody else here forgot to recommend it.

I'd suggest Godzilla's Revenge over Son of Godzilla (SOG is the better film IMO anyway) but I think Son of Godzilla is somewhere in the middle between For Kids and For All Ages.

I started out with G85, and since that one isn't available at the moment, I suggest Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (74) and Godzilla vs. Gigan. I didn't see the original until later on.
