Eh, I never noticed any problems like that with those tapes. But then, I haven't watched those VHS tapes in years.
One thing I had a problem with Sony's Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II VHS since the day I got it back in 1999 was that the picture was constantly jumpy. Every minute or so, the picture would just jump right quick, for about the first twenty minutes of the movie, and then infrequently throughout the rest of the tape. My VCR had automatic-tracking, and I had the same problem when I played it on other VCRs. So either Sony manufactured faulty tapes for that movie, or I just got a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" copy. Most likely the latter.
