, perhaps, but I think the battle didn't seem as long to me because it wasn't focuesed so much on the battle. That's what I like about the GxM final battle; it goes from the Gryphon to Kudo and the scientists, to Godzilla fighting Megs, to the DT, and it kinda cycles through all these different points. In the GvsMG'93 battle, it seems like too much emphasis was put on the fight itself. The battle between the MG airship and Rodan, for instance, went on for a few minutes and never once interested me, and the same goes for the final battle, only magnified because of the length of the battle. I guess it's a matter of taste, really.
Oh, and again making the contrast to GxM: What was cool about it was how because we had no clear-cut hero, since the characters hated Godzilla and Megs at the same time, it made the final battle interesting (added to this was the "falling" motif that literally had me on the edge of my seat--The DT, the Gryphon, Kiriko...all falling ever-rapidly towards the earth). However, the GvsMG'93 battle had three undefined characters, who just seem to kinda knock each other over until it all comes to one sublimely hackneyed cop-out of an ending.
I guess my point is that regardless of how bad the SG battles were, in my eyes the MG battles were just as bad, and GvsSG didn't linger so much on it. Also, you mention emotion in the GvsMG final battle, namely regarding G, Rodan, and Baby G. Well, again, I guess it really depends on the person, because for some reason this movie made me feel zero emotion for any of the monsters whatsoever, especially Rodan, who feels like he was there just to provide another slow-moving laser battle. In GvsSG, I actually cared what happened to the characters.
