Jidas looks awesome. Now that we can see his full body, the resemblance to the Miregoji/Giragoji Godzilla suits really is limited only to the head. And even then, the more I look at that head, it looks less like the Millennium Godzilla and more like the
Jurassic Park T-rex. And speaking of
Jurassic Park, Jidas also seems to have a dilophosaurus frill around his neck. And judging by the early concept art, it seems that he will be spitting some type of fluid, also like the
Jurassic Park dilophosaurus.
I think that the Jidas design is a mix of the Millennium Godzilla and
JP T-rex (head), the
JP dilophosaurus (frill and spit), and Gorosaurus (body). But most of all, Jidas seems to be based on Jiras, the monster from the original Ultraman series.
The monster Jiras was made by taking the Daisensogoji Godzilla suit (from
Godzilla vs. Monster Zero and
Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster), giving it a colorful paint job, and attaching a big frill and other little accessories to it. For the new monster Jidas in
The Tiniest Heroes: Gamera, Kadokawa seems to have done the same thing. They combined the Millennium Godzilla head with the
JP T-rex head, attached it to the Gorosaurus body, and then gave it the Jiras treatment of a colorful paint job and a big frill. Though the frill for Jidas is different from that of Jiras, and seems to be based on the frill of the
JP dilophosaurus.
Overall, I think Jidas looks mighty badass. I absolutely love his design. While I can clearly see that it is a montage of various different design sources, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Combine the best elements of the Millennium Godzilla, Gorosaurus, Jiras, and the
Jurassic Park T-rex and dilophosaurus, and the result is one badass-looking kaiju named Jidas.
The Gamera suit itself seems to be very well detailed and articulated, and the design is good. The only kicker is the eyes, which look overly large, cartoony, and stoned, much like the eyes of the baby godzillasaur from
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II. It's a shame, because if it weren't for those eyes, that Gamera suit would be pretty much perfect, for a juvenile half-grown Gamera at least.
