This is apparently a new villain on the Teen Titans CN toon. Reminds me a bit of another mobile pepperpot!

Those painting covers are so cool. At least the Five Doctors Uk DVD has a painted image colour.

"At the Stamp Centre signing last Thursday, Tom Baker noted that he had recorded commentaries for two DVD releases, "Genesis of the Daleks" alongside David Maloney and "The Hand of Fear" with actress Judith Parris, the day before, while Nick Courtney mentioned that he had recorded one for "Inferno". As has been noted before, these recordings are not indications that DVD releases are imminent, but merely take advantage of the actors' presence in London and their schedules. However, this fits in with rumors Outpost Gallifrey has heard about potential releases for 2006."

Genesis of the Daleks might be released on DVD?

OK so questiony ques-question McQuestion time of which I'm of the ponderment; just how good is Tomb of the Cybermen? I've never actually seen it before but I'm thinking of asking for it as a Chrimbo prezzy and I'm wanting to get as many opinions on it as possible first before I make ye olde final decision (especially given how varied many of those opinions seem to be).

And in other news, here's William Hartnell looking rather effeminate on the Region 2 cover of The Beginning box set:

Ooh I say!

I love "Tomb" and consider it a classic, *but* it is a rather typical Troughton story. I must admit that after years-and-years of hype, when it was found and released on VHS, I was a bit disappointed that it seemed rather standard fare. If it weren't for the Cybermen, it might be unremarkable. I guess it all depends on what else you already have in your collection. Better than "The Mind Robber" or "The Web Planet" as older stories go. And "Tomb" has some really fine extras. I guess I just prefer "The 10th Planet" and "The Invasion" as Cybermen stories go, though those aren't DVD options yet!

I'm so psyched for "The Beginning" set. I'm glad we'll have it here in the States next year.

I remember running out to rent TOMB as soon as it was found and released, after reading years of Dr Who Magazine wags clailm it was the best story ever. Naturally it was a big let down.

Rewatching it on TV the other year, I realized, not only is it a typical Troughton, but maybe the best example we have his "Base under siege", and pretty sterling as far as that genere was carried in Dr Who.

Cheers for el thoughts guys, I'm gonna go ahead and add it to my Chizzy list afterall. I've always been a sucker for a good "base under siege" story (which is one of the reasons why Horror of Fang Rock is one of my all-time faves). :)

And now you've got me all reminiscing about The Invasion too Mechascorpio. I actually dusted off the old double VHS box set a couple of months ago when I last got "the craving" and found it was even better than I'd remembered.

"Is this what you wanted Vaughn?! To be the ruler of a dead world?!"

So awesome. Troughton truly = The Man. :D

I just descovered Doctor Who in late 2003 early 2004. I saw Tomb without any sort of "legend" attached to it other then a little blurb about how the story was "thought to be lost" on the VHS cover.

I loved it. It's kinda like Rodan; just a great monster story, but done really well.

BTW the US cover of "City of Death" has a little blurb saying, to the effect; co-written by Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I haven't asked for much Doctor Who stuff for Christmas. Just the 2005 series box set. And The Dalek Invasion of Earth. And The Seeds of Death. And Spearhead from Space. And The Horror of Fang Rock. And City of Death.

...And a sonic screwdriver toy. :D

I'm holding off on the new series box set until the Beeb announces what they're going to do about the faulty disc (damn their shoddy quality control preventing me from watching it right this second! :x ) so I'm just having to make do with only asking for City of Death, The Curse of Fenric and The Tomb Of The Cybermen instead.

I've also bought my dad one of those sweet remote control Daleks for Chrimbo too (the black "Dalek Supreme" version) since he's also a fan of the show. I took it out of the box and gave it a little whirl when it got here officially just to make sure everything was in full working order but unofficially because I've wanted to have a go with one ever since I first saw them just as much as he does. :D
