Yeah, that's too bad. RIP

I thought he did brilliant effects work, especially considering the smaller budgets he had to work with vs Tsuburaya. His work on Godzilla vs the Sea Monsters and Son of Godzilla have always impressed me for their time period and respective budgets. And Destroy All Monsters is a wonderful masterpiece of Showa-era effects, including one of the most memorable fights in all the Godzilla series. Even 1970's Space Ameoba (aka Yog, Monster From Space), while ridiculed and disliked by many, has always had a warm place in my heart.

I've never really seen any of the original Ultraman though, but I'm sure his work on it is good, as it was elsewhere.

Think I'll watch one of his films tonight, in rememberance.

Gone, but not forgotten. Mr. Arikawa, thank you very much for all you have given me and my fellow Godzilla/tokusatsu fans to enjoy over the years. I am infinetely grateful.

Sincerely,

JNR

I found a couple more. Both are from a meeting the night before the convention.

Can you name the G-guests in this picture?

Thanks Armand for posting those pics. That sure brought back some great memories. In that last picture, I can see Kochi Kawakita, Robert Scott Field, Mr. Arikawa, Haruo Nakajima and I believe I also see Kenpachiro Satsuma. It was great fun, and it was the stories by Mr. Arikawa and Mr. Nakajima that were a great joy to listen to.
