While I did my review of The 6 Ultra Brothers Vs. the Monster Army on my blog:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/ryuuseipro/58445.html

I noticed something. While Chaiyo's own page (http://www.chaiyo.co.th) is still up, their Ultraman site (http://www.ultraman.com) isn't! :D

GEE . . . I WONDER WHY . . .

While on the subject...

Here's some things to make you go "huh?"....

. There's so many things wrong with this article I don't even know where to begin.

Some other disturbing stuff:
Unfortunately what it says is that Chaiyo gets another victory, this time in Chinese high court in reference to Chaiyo selling thier toys in a department store in China. TPS was suing the store for making a profit on Chaiyo merchandise or something.

from a Yahoo News Japan.

Why couldn't Chaiyo set their evil sights on... oh... I dunno... Baywatch? Why are we stuck with this jerk?

The original court settlements does not[b/] allow Chiayo to create new characters or produce new movies or television shows... they can only distribute ULTRA Q through ULTRAMAN TARO (and JUMBORG ACE). They are really asking for it, aren't they? Everything they produce is cr*p -- just see the 5 RIDERS VS. HANUMAN or THE SIX ULTRA BROTHERS VS. THE MONSTER ARMY for proof. I hate Chaiyo's guts. I really do.

Anyway, as you probably saw in my blog link, I finally saw The 6 Ultra Brothers Vs. the Monster Army (the Thai version). Although the FX weren't too bad (but the Ultra Brothers and the monsters were in really funky condition; I almost couldn't tell Ultraman, Zoffy or New Ultraman apart from each other!), the movie was still a real stinker.

I only saw bits and pieces of Hanuman and the 5 Riders so far, as well as screepcaps. What little footage I saw made this worse than aforementioned film. It looked even worse than the worst Mexican movies I've ever seen!

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, Hanuman and the 5 Riders is illegal! Chaiyo asked for Toei's permission, and Toei refused, so Chaiyo did the film anyway. So without Toei's help, they had to make all the Rider/King Dark costumes themselves, and they looked awful! (Riderman, for example, looked really, really pitiful.) And King Dark's henchmen are just petty burglars wearing black & white ski-masks! It looked so retarded.

Yes, that's the story that was told to me in 2002 when I was in Tokyo watching that wretched movie for the first time. Imagine a movie made in someone's backyard for next to nothing. Then imagine that the filmmakers less resources than Ray Dennis Steckler and less talent than Ed Wood, and then you can start to imagine that cr*p that is HANUMAN AND THE 5 RIDERS. The best thing about the movie is the movie poster!

Die Chaiyo, die!

@August:

Here's some additional information about these movies:

> 5 RIDERS was never released outside of Thailand,
> as far as I know.

It was at least released in Turkey as BÖCEK ADAMLAR - HANUMAN AND THE FIVE KAMEN RIDERS. Interestingly, from the Thai Jumborg Ace (?) movie there were at least two vastly different versions released in Thailand and possibly yet another version was at least released in Turkey (MARS ADAM - MARS MEN), Italy (GLI UOMINI DI MARTE - MARS MEN), and France (LES HOMMES D'UNE AUTRE PLANETE).

> But, these were released in Germany as BATTLE OF THE INFRAS
> and FRANKENSTEIN'S KUNG FU MONSTER, respectively.

These translations are not entirely correct: First, KRIEG DER INFRAS means WAR OF THE INFRAS. Second, though FRANKENSTEIN'S KUNG FU MONSTER is grammatically correct, FRANKENSTEIN'S KUNG FU MONSTERS must be used instead. This is, because in German "Monster" can be either singular or plural. In this case the plural must be used, because the title refers to all of the monsters shown in the movie. By the way, the movie is also known in Germany as KUNG-FU RIDERS, which was the title of a later release on VHS. FRANKENSTEINS KUNG FU MONSTER was the theatrical title as well as the title of the initial VHS release (in the German dub, the Shocker organization is not mentioned, instead Frankenstein is the leader of the bad guys).

Sorry for using so much boldface, I used that for all original titles in order to avoid confusion, because some of them (or parts of them) look like English translations. :)
