I don't know if this was mentioned before - but at http://www.gamera.jp/new/index.html they say that the prelimiary date for the première is during the golden week.
(The "golden week" takes place in the end of april - beginning of may, when 4 national holidays come almost at the same time, so most japanese takes a vacation then.)

I made a google search for "gamera-chiisaki yuushatachi", and found out they are looking for extras for the film in Iseshima, so I guess the fishing town of the film will be located somewhere around that place.
