The most overrated Showa flick

Postby X Goji » Sun May 29, 2005 9:10 am

I would make this a poll but there are just so many options and I'm a lazy bum. Anway, my vote goes to TOMG. A lot of reviews I read praised this film as being the best of the 70's films, but when I finaly saw it I was ultimately disappointed by it.
I heard that the Japanese version was better though.

Mine pick is also TOMG. I thought it was pretty messy. Really bad acting and and boring....

ToMG for me also. MG74 surpasses it by far.

there are two overrated Godzilla movies in this series- the first one and GODZILLA VS THE THING. fans usually proclaim them great without knowing why. VS THE THING is really good, but not the only movie worth watching. GODZILLA also has many great moments, but because it's the first it's giving a pass for many of it's flaws as well (such as some of the pacing).

Godzilla vs Hedorah gets a lot of praise but I find it to be almost unwatchable. Terror of Mechagodzilla is pretty bad too.

So, because "some fans still have a soft spot for this" it's "the most overrated Showa flick"?

DAM.

Biggest disapointment I've ever had while watching a Kaiju movie. I WAS PROMISED A 10 MONSTER BRAWL BY THE DARNED BOOK! Gwaaahhhhh.

Disapointment aside, the movie isn't that great either. Gets way to much praise for what it is.

Runner Up: Gojira. Yep, you heard me. The 1954 classic. It wasn't as good as KOTM, and when you mention that, you get flamed out of the fandom.
