Big news! Big news! This is really super big news!!! One of my favorite guilty pleasures, Legend of the Dinosaurs, was finally released on dvd in Japan in a pretty bare-bones release from Toei. Has anyone else gotten this at all? I was rather disappointed with this release, especially since the audio sounded incredibly weak compared to the rare laserdisc released back in ’93 (glad I still held on to it!). Although the picture was better on the dvd, it is missing some image information on the left of the screen but does have a few extra teaser trailers the laserdisc did not. Even though this is a obviously a horrible movie, I still get a huge kick out of the totally outrageous musical score that blares out funky jazz music during completely innappropiate scenes and probably the fakest looking giant monsters that have been shown in Japanese theaters.
"Aaaaah!!"
"Please don't hate me because I look fake, please?"
The hero of the movie about to slap his woman around after getting out of line, like God intended.
"Wow! If it weren't for the piss-poor black levels on this dvd, we would have never found our way around in this cave!"
If you don't look carefully, you can see the wires!
I also have a recording of Legend of the Dinosaurs off Japanese tv from the early '80's that had a lot of really cool board game commercials-
In this one you play a
sarariman!
