Good point, but some would consider the fact that Kong hasn't been done to death a strength. I was merely replying to the irony of the "who's on top in the end" comment.

I'm sure I'll be torn apart by some for this, but would anybody else love to see this movie remade? And not just some, "Yeah, I'd like to see Godzilla stomp a 24 foot ape in two seconds" dream many have, but a serious well done remake done in the spirit of the original? For Godzilla movies, I'm all for originality but this is probably the only one I'd love to see done again.

I actually brought up the earthquake theory a few years ago on Aaron's older forum.
They may have inserted stock footage from the Mysterians to make the earthquake scene look bigger than what it was in the original version.
But there are two shots of the actors holding on to eachother as the ground shakes and crubles around them.
They can barely stand up. This is no small tremour. And this is NOT Mysterians footage.

Now that doesn't prove anything in and of itself. But if you examine the facts here's what you have:
1.) KK fought G for several minutes before going into the water. Even after the lightning they were evenly matched. Clearly no one punch winner going to happen here.
2.) Godzilla has a huge advantage in the water
3.) Godzilla dissapears instantly after they hit the water and the earthquake stops.

That doesn't mean that TOHO was trying to imply that Godzilla got trapped by an earthquake. But you have to admit that there are an awful lot of indicators to support it.
People like KPA say that TOHO says Kong won. And I believe that's what they told him and anyone else who asks.
But based on all of those things I just listed. There is just no logical way Kong can beat Godzilla in a matter of seconds under water.
I truely believe the ending was intentionally done this way to make people wonder what really happened, because TOHO couldn't kill either of them due to the fact that they were both cultural icons.

It's a trick ending where neither side really wins. But they say Kong wins because Godzilla dissapears. He's not dead. He's just GONE.
I suspect the same thing would happen in a Godzilla Vs. Gamera ending.
You can't blindly ingnore the events that lead up to this event. And then buy the ending as Kong wupping Godzilla in two seconds (under water no less).
It just doesn't add up.

But it's not supposed to add up. That's the whole point to a trick ending. That's why people will argue about it till the end of time.
