While Microsoft has been relatively quiet stateside, the official Xbox site in Taiwan has unveiled a partial list of publishers for the next-gen Xbox codenamed Xenon. Including both first and third-party companies, the list of publishers show the promise of Microsoft's next console--especially comparing to the slow start of the original Xbox.

First/Second Party Publishers

BioWare
Bizarre Creations
Bungie Studios
Epic Games
FASA Studio
Lionhead Studios
Mistwalker
Q Entertainment
Rare Ltd
Real Time Worlds

Third Party Publishers

Activision
Atari
Bandai
Bethesda Softworks
Capcom
Codemasters
Eidos
Electronic Arts
From Software
Koei
Konami
LucasArts
Majesco
Midway
Namco
Phantagram
Rockstar Games (Take-Two)
Sega of America
Tecmo
THQ
Ubisoft
Vivendi Universal Games
Webzen
2KGames

Definitely a healthy blend of Western and Eastern devs/pubs gearing up for the launch of the Xenon.

And it looks like my prediction was right:

According to the weekly Game Over column at CNN, Perfect Dark Zero, a first-person shooter from Microsoft-owned Rare, is going to debut at this year's E3, and the platform of choice is none other than the next Xbox, code-named Xenon. The original Perfect Dark appeared on the N64 console.

CNN's column also indicates that, much to fans' chagrin, Xenon's retail name will be Xbox 360.

WTF?!?!? "XBOX 360"?!?!?

What is this? A dance sim Or a Merry-go-round console?

Xenon's a much more high-tech name than XBOX 360 and it sounds better too....I'd even take XBOX Next instead of "360".....

Anyway, one of it's renditions is said to have wi-fi......I'm not sure which one, or if it's been scrapped.....

XBOX 360 on MTV, MAY 12!!!

Postby Goji66 » Mon Apr 11, 2005 11:47 am

Microsoft is revealing Xenon on MTV, four days before E3!!!

From CVG.com:

"XBOX 2 DEBUTS PRE-E3 ON MTV!

Microsoft to reveal next-gen monster worldwide on MTV

12:05 If you want to be among the first people in the world to see Microsoft's Xbox 2 you won't need an uncle called Bill Gates or an E3 press pass - you'll only need MTV.

Microsoft has struck a deal with the cable TV channel to unveil the next-gen console during a half-hour program to be broadcast around the world on May 12.

That's a full 4 days ahead of Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference where the Seattle-based giant was expected to show off the system for the first time.

The early worldwide unveiling is a brave move for Microsoft, and one that strongly goes against the grain for new console announcements. Sony and Nintendo are also expected to break out their new consoles on May 16 or 17 - in the relative safety of a press conference.

But Peter Moore, corporate vice president of worldwide marketing and publishing for Xbox, is confident the MTV unveiling will be a winner. ""It doesn't make sense to unveil the product behind a closed door, at a trade-only event," he said, talking to marketing journal Brandweek. "We wanted to talk directly to the consumer first."

So rather than whipping off the Xbox 2's covers in front of a bunch of sweaty, whooping games journalists, Microsoft will unleash the console in front of actor Elijah Wood and a host of celebrities from the worlds of sport, music and film. The Killers will even play a set, just in case you're getting a little bit bored of all the geek-speak.

Moore sees the move as indicative of Microsoft's cool new marketing approach as it attempts to make the Xbox 2 a worldwide success and hammer Sony and Nintendo into the dirt. The goal is to appeal the "core gamers" while at the same time managing to "captivate the masses," according to Moore.

Microsoft's ourcolony.net, an example of ilovebees.com-style viral marketing, is already making waves amongst gamers eager to catch a glimpse of the Xbox 2. Catch up on the clues here.

Only a month to go then...

You know why they did that? Because Sony kept moving their E3 press conference ahead of Microsoft's to debut the PS3 first to get all the media buzz and attention. I suppose now Sony will unveil PS3 specs on VH1 six days before E3. :P

EDIT: Looks like the controller may have been leaked. http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/8018/Xbox ... r-Exposed/

DRINK A PEPSI, WIN AN XBOX 2

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000230039724/

"We can’t divulge the source of this information (what else is new?), but we’ve learned that Microsoft is going to be teaming up with Pepsi for a major promotion this fall in which they’ll be giving away over 9,000 Xbox 2/Xbox 360 consoles in the weeks ahead of the next-gen console’s official release. The contest will use an under-the-cap registration method (much like Pepsi did before with those iTunes giveaways), and supposedly they’ll be giving away one console every ten minutes, 24 hours a day, for nine weeks straight."
