don't limit yourself to just those episodes- it's a great fun show and some of the other episodes with the guest monsters are even better.

Kinda strange that Ghidorah or Godzilla (Jiras doesn't count) never made guest appearances on Ultraman, considering the original suits were created by Tsuburaya, Ultraman's creator. Is this because Zone Fighter was a Toho Production and Ultraman wasn't?

I remember that as a kid. Ultraman tearing that neck thingy off Godzilla/Jiras. I was so impressed by that scene as a kid. I haven't seen it since the early 80's but the images are still vivid in my mind.

MUSUKOGOJI! I take exception to your accusation that my episode translations are "way off"; they are not. I originally translated these in 1986, when I lived in Tokyo, with the assistance of fellow fans. The episode titles were listed in the soundtrack LP, Gojira Gaiden Ryusei Ningen Zone (Godzilla Side Story "Human Meteor: Zone"), Alty AY20-5007 (Apollon Music Industrial Corp), issued July, 1985. This was an official release, fully licensed and authorized by Toho.

Contained within the LP jacket, was a four-page insert, put together by the staff of Uchusen magazine (Asahi Sonorama Publishing), with comments from the staff of the series, and an episode guide -- all authorized by Toho. In 1990, when ZONE was released in a laserdisc boxset from Toho, I received dubs of all 26 episodes, so I had these to cross-check. The episode titles are the same (some come with a secondary, or "subtitle"), and so I stick by my final transliterations. I have cross referenced the on-screen episode titles with several other publications, including Asahi Sonorama's "Superhero Album 1971-1973" (1987) and "'70s Tokusatsu Hero Zenshu" (1998), as well as other published sources. They are all identical.

The first episode with King Ghidorah is titled "Kingugidora-o Mukae Ute!" -- roughly, "Blast/Shoot King Ghidorah at Point Blank Range!"... the second part is titled "Kingugidora-no Gyakushu!"... since this kind of "XXXX-no Gyakushu" title is so common in Japanese movies and teleseries, I decided to use the variation, "King Ghidorah Strikes Back!" since the Japanese title for STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is "Sutaa Uosu Teikoku-no Gyakushu"! My transliteration is therefore absolutely legitimate.

April 3, 1972 - September 29, 1972 are the correct dates (I cross-checked four Japanese reference books). REDMAN ran in five-minute segments, Monday through Saturdays, on the "Good Morning! Children's Show" (Nippon Television Network, aka NTV).

^ It played on Saturday? I thought it was just weekdays.

So that's (If I do my calculations. April 3 was a Monday. Sept 29 was a Friday.1972 was a leap Year.) 155 days. It ran 138 episodes.

For that to work there would have to be 17 days of repeats.

Does that make sense?

Probably... none of my Japanese reference books list the number of episodes produced... on October 5, 1972 Toho's GO! GODMAN (Yuke! Goddoman) debuted on NTV's "Good Morning! Children's Show", but only ran Monday through Fridays... if memory serves me correctly, REDMAN was released in a laserdisc boxset in the mid-1990s... maybe I am mixing it up with ULTRA FIGHT!, which I know was released in a laserdisc boxset... perhaps, if REDMAN was indeed released on laserdisc, there would be an informative booklet, which would have the answers that we are seeking...

Yes... Gaira, Gabara, and many others -- as well as many outlandish original creatures... GO! GREENMAN (11/12/1973 - 09/27/1974) was also a part of NTV's "Good Morning! Children's Show" Monday through Saturdays. 156 segments (six making one "half hour episode")... the show is currently running on the Family Theater satellite cable channel in Japan... BTW, GO! GODMAN was broken up in five parts, not six, each week.

There isn't a Japanese science fiction/fantasy/superhero television show that I don't know about -- fire away! :)

I think it was the second one

But seriously that Good Morning GO! GODMAN pic. Do you have similar ones for GREENMAN and REDMAN?
