Zonefighter and Godzilla

Postby Kaiju Nexus » Sat Feb 26, 2005 1:37 pm

Does the Zonefighter series actually take place in the showa Godzilla series? And if so, does that mean that Zonefighter and all related monsters should technically be included in the showa Godzilla timeline?

Most of ZF's monsters were badly designed and wouldn't hold up in a feature film. Even the Godzilla, Gigan and Ghidrah suits look crappier in ZF than they did on film (the show's hyper-bright lighting scheme sure didn't help), but they were a sight for sore eyes after seeing some of the 'painted garbage bag' monster designs on that show. I'm exaggerating, but not by much.

Godzilla never lived in a cave with 5 minute access to Tokyo during the Showa era, and since ZF never made a crossover appearance in the G-series (one would think Megalon was the perfect vehicle), I'm inclined to believe the ZF universe was its own self-contained beast. The crossovers were one-way only.

Toho says that "Zone Fighter" is part of the Showa series.

A for the cave, the Zone Family built it for Godzilla to stay in so he wouldn't have to keep swimming back and forth from Monster Island.
