Actually, I have always thought that Irys was a modern day representation of Viras, there did seem to be some similarities,at least thats how it seemed to me. Anyway, great news on the possibility of more Gamera, I just hope that they can keep up the standard that was set by Kaneko and the rest of the original crew.

With that attitude then any new Gamera film is already ruined if you think it has to be Kaneko. There are many talented directors I'm sure who are up to the task.
