Barugon question

I just realised today that...if Barugon is a Chameleon thing, how come they showed it as a crocodile when it first hatched?

^^ The name is, but the monsters are nothing alike. Hadn't thought of the chameleon angle; they couldn't swing the body-color changes, so they gave him a rainbow instead.
