Heads up folks! I gotta' seed on my DL! Go forth with Ultra-goodness!
UPDATE:
I just finished watching episode 3, and here are my impressions:
Yes, this is a VERY dark Ultra show. While cool in a lot of places, it seems like the usual target audience of Ultraman shows, young children, will be put out by the series' dark, mature tone and low humor factor. I can see kids getting nightmares from the blob-monsters 0_0...especially at the very end of the ep. As a show for adults, however, it is very effective.
Holy CRAP though is Nexus a fighter! I've never seen an Ultra smack a kaiju across the head with such intensity!
Nexus isn't out there hamming it up with little or no effect on the kaiju, and I'm not seeing any "delayed reactions" (i.e. the monster is punched, and it takes a full 2 or 3 seconds for it to react, whether by roaring or falling down). The concept of Nexus's "alternate dimension" is revealed in this episode, but never totally explained yet, which is very cool. I won't spoil it, let's just say that it's nicely done. We'll apparently see the full effect of what happens next episode.
On another note, I seriously hate that girl and her "issues." I really wish I could understand what they are saying, because I'd love to hear whatever her insane reasoning is for shooting a giant humanoid that just saved two people's lives.
Other than that, my one real criticism is that there had better be some serious, long-lasting fights next episode, because otherwise they may lose their audience entirely.
In conclusion, a good episode, well thought-out, and sets up for what will hopefully be an exciting 4th ep.
