While Rodan's supersonic flight speed was played up in Rodan('56), long before MegaGi, man had only broken the sound barrier nine years prior. Still, it seems mysterious that instead of putting on the speed, Rodan,
the Red Baron
is reduced to pecking, dropping rocks, and later firing a beam (although he did manage to twist in midair and slam into KG). He needs a real aerial fight like Gamera and Gyaos through the clouds in 1995. Being a lot faster than Godzilla, you'd think he could dive bomb him and what's the good of hurricane winds™ if he can't revise the move in concert with his tremendous maneuverability.
Sora no Daikaiju Radon!
As for philosophy, the two R56 felt a bond of kinship so strong that when one died the other did not save itself but they died together. R93 tried to protect its endangered brother (by nest) BabyG twice nearly at the expense of its life before giving the last of its strength so that a former enemy could protect BabyG. In G:TTHM, he and Godzilla agree that mankind can suck eggs but reluctantly become teammates as the world's saviors when Mothra kicks them in the pride by going alone to face KG. While Goji is a conceited fight-happy jerk who mellows out only a little after being buried (just like the Monkey King!), Rodan is something of a masterless samurai who in his suddenly changed world has become a roadside bandit (only he eats people!). They came together and finally fought for a worthy cause.
