I think he's a kid character from the Star Wars Rebels show.

Storm troopers arent clones anymore? Even the retcons are getting retcons!

If the Empire was defeated in Return of the Jedi, then why are there storm troopers at all? Did we call "mission accomplished" a little too early back in 1983?

Isn't Boba Fett also supposed to be a clone of that guy, just without accelerated aging? He sounds nothing like that, either.

I actually had the same discussion on another board's Rebels topic. I was trying to figure out why there is a Storm Trooper Academy when the STs are all clones and was told they are not all clones. Crazy.

The Rebels cartoon brings it up basically.... There's a Imperial Academy for youngsters to become STORMtroopers.

Speaking of Rebels... After the last few episodes, I'm starting to think Ezra(sp?), the young kid trying to become a Jedi could end up being our sith in the new movies.

I'll admit that I dabble in the EU but I like to think that I've watched the films enough to separate it, although it has been some time since I have sat down and watched them.

The Empire/Republic lost their main clone source, or at least made its usage very time sensitive, after Windu decapitated Jango. So they only had so much pure genetic material to use and eventually they'd either have to use another source (a different person), clone clones which degrades the end product, or train regular people. Now this is probably just EU, but the reason Jango was chosen was because he has killed Jedi in the past and what better way to hunt down and kill all the Jedi than to have an army comprised of non-force users who have the ability to kill Jedi. So after Order 66, there's no real reason to have an army with that specific skill set.

Since the Empire is more or less all encompassing by A New Hope, one would assume that the Academy that Uncle Owen tells Luke he can go to after next harvest would be an Imperial Academy. Like most good old stereotypical movie farm boys, the best way out of the farm is the military. There's a deleted scene with Biggs that I think goes into it a bit more but I haven't seen that enough to really say and it's a deleted scene and doesn't really count for average viewing experiences.

Also cloned troopers weren't really a thing, as far as I am aware, until Attack of the Clones. So I could see where someone would think that the OT troopers would be retconed clones after the movie, but that's the one of the sticky-wicket with prequels.

Going by some of Lucas's comments from the early 80s, while he did have intentions to continue doing movies post ROTJ it doesn't seem like he ever got around to doing much more until active work on the episodes 1-3 kicked in. Any work Lucas did in the intervening years was likely just tinkering around with episode 1-3 ideas.

That and things changed once Lucas sold the company to Disney. If Lucasfilm remained Lucas's company but he just stepped back from working actively I'm sure we would not be seeing any Star Wars looking at any sequel movies, although that live action TV series might be going into production by now. But now DIsney owns the company and they have 6 new Star Wars movies in the works, three of which are sequels.

Anybody who watches episodes 4-6 on their own, as intended, and thinks "Well, that's clearly the story of Darth Vader" is a buffoon. George Lucas sucks.

I think that the people at Disney said (over the last year or so) that Rebels and I guess most all Star Wars stuff going forward counts as being part of one whole universe.
