Just saw it. I don't see the appeal. It's been done, and better I think. Everyone I went with seemed to love it. I was the lone voice of negativity. I prefered Tobey as Peter, and the way that version of Peter was written. I could deff feel cuts and jumps in the movie where I suspect things were removed by the studio from the film. The Lizard is pretty bad (and I'm one of the few that liked his design from stills).
Let's see what else...Peter Parker/ Spider-Man. Well, good preformance, but he's not Peter to me. Makes for a pretty good Spidey though.
Gwen Stacey. Good enough in the role. Deff some foreshadowing of her fate at the end. I think she's shown to be a little too intelligent, and to have waaaay too much power at Oscorp.
Uncle Ben. Aunt May. Kinda prefer the originals even though they're serviceable here.
Decent score. My brother loved it. Elfman's was fine to me.
There are some pretty hamfisted things in this film. It's cheesy at times...moreso than the original film. The crane bit...wtf.
All that being said, it's not a bad movie..it's just pointless. I left wanting a sequel. That's all this film is really...a set up for a sequel. Peter isn't really the Spider Man we all know until the very end of the film. But at that point I didn't really care. It's a long film...felt long at least. The ending shot is so lame it's laughable btw. To me at least. The theater cheered and clapped at the film's end....moreso than in the two Avengers screenings I went to. Baffling.
Also, what the hell is up with lame post credits footage this summer? That type of footage shouldn't (ever happen, but if it has to) ever be ambiguous. It's supposed to be a tease...not a question. "Who the hell was that, Why should I care and that wasn't worth sticking around for" are not thoughts I should have after seeing a post credits scene.
Actually, if you want my thoughts just read Mouth's co-host's review he posted on the last page. Nailed it.
