They're obviously trying to let Iron Man and Superman have their moments.

Two weeks ago, Man of Steel advertising was practically non-existent, now its everywhere. They wanted to let Iron Man get hyped up first. Last year, there wasn't a whole lot in the way of TDKR marketing until after Avengers came out. They don't want blockbusters cannibalizing each other. We'll see more Pacific Rim once Iron Man is out of the way and even more once Man of Steel is out. Its not a bad strategy.

In the age of the internet and social media, the whole year build up to a movie's release is really non existent. Now studios only need a month or less to hype up a release. They put out a trailer, then they don't hammer you with TV spots until about 2-3 weeks before the release and they let social media do the rest.

I'm not sure I understand all the paranoia about this movie bombing... or even, why we should care. This isn't a long lasting franchise like Godzilla that will determine the future of something. Its an entry in a genre that might as well be non-existent in the United States. And even if it bombs, it won't effect Godzilla all that much. Godzilla is 1. A household name and established brand and 2. Will be a totally different type of monster movie.

If it bombs, what's it to us? It would suck that an original sci-fi picture bombed, but that isn't anything new (see Oblivion). Is it cuz we like GDT? Cuz he'll be fine since his next film is more or less greenlit already.

I mean, sure its normal to want movies we like to do well, I just don't get how over-analytical everyone has been lately about this one.

The WonderCon trailer is making it's way through social media, and Pacific Rim is currently trending on Twitter, particularly because of this scene:

I'm excited and I'm trying to do my small part promoting (I feel like such a shill though  ).

I was going to see this movie anyway and I was excited before, but now... I'm sold. There's no way this movie could disappoint me.

I was going to see this movie.
I saw the first trailer....
Really going to see this movie....
Saw second trailer....
Umm, yeah, this is gonna be killer, time to make sure my local Cineoplis theater is gonna have it because I like to enjoy a good Robot/Monster movie in a leather recliner, while being served cocktails and sushi while only having to share the theater with 60 other people. Heaven.

As for now, I'll have to see Godzilla at Arclight Theaters because they are the only one with the Dolby Atmos speaker setup. Seats are not as comfy and you don't get served cocktails and food but I want the whole visceral experience...Unless Cineoplis updates their sound system.
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!

I also really like the tagline of "Go Big or Go Extinct" much more than the "To Fight Monsters, We Created Monsters" tagline.

Same as most people here I was a little underwhelmed by the first trailer, but this.....this is something else! :o

The kaiju in general are definitely a little more Del Toro-ey overall than I was perhaps expecting, other than The Trespasser, but I don't see that as a bad thing. It *is* a GDT movie after all (speaking of which; gratuitous Ron Perlman sighting! Woo! :D ). Either way, the movie looks amazing.

I think the kaiju look better, I expected them to look very Del Toro-y, and you can see that in the faces, but they still look like kickass monsters.

I wish we could see the toys already, and I hope they're fairly articulated.

I've been spamming it to friends and coworkers. I also sent the trailer to Opie from Opie and Anthony. Show I enjoy listening to and they were just drooling over the lone ranger. Maybe they will give this a quick mention. =)

Incredible footage, loved it all. :D

Interestingly enough, you can see the jaeger from the cover of the graphic novel Year Zero. It was the quick scene where it shows you all the success jaeger's are having. Two of them are being built.

Maybe some jaegers were mass produced?

I don't remember hearing that, but I think it'd be overkill if these things had lasers.
