TRANSFORMERS: PRIME is a bold new CG-animated series, and the latest exciting installment in the Transformers universe. The first DVD volume, DARKNESS RISING, contains the first five action-packed episodes of the series, linked together as one 110 minute feature length movie. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron and Starscream return in TRANSFORMERS: PRIME, the brainchild of the creators of the TRANSFORMERS movie trilogy and the recent STAR TREK movie, as well as popular TV shows, LOST, ALIAS and FRINGE. The series also features voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, the original Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively. It has been three years since the Decepticons last attacked Earth and the Autobots await their return. After the death of Cliffjumper, the Autobots fight to protect the Earth from the Decepticons and befriend three young humans, and the returned Megatron who has been missing for three Earth years. Using Dark Energon, Megatron plans to raise an undead army of Cybertronians and defeat the Autobots. The Autobots destroy his space bridge and Megatron is believed killed in the process. Starscream becomes the new Decepticon leader. TRANSFORMERS PRIME represents the latest installment of a global entertainment franchise that has been going strong for over 25 years. PRIME is for young and old TRANSFORMERS fans alike: the slick animation and action-packed scenes will appeal to kids, while the references to older series and complex storylines will keep older fans happy.
