The Kamen Rider Series also known as Masked Rider Series, is a Japanese superhero media franchise consisting of tokusatsu television programs, films, manga, and anime, created by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori. Kamen Rider media generally features a motorcycle-riding superhero with an insect motif who fights supervillains, often known as kaijin. The franchise began in 1971 with the Kamen Rider television series. The original series spawned television and film sequels and launched the Second Kaiju Boom (also known as the Henshin Boom) on Japanese television during the early 1970s, impacting the superhero and action-adventure genres in Japan.
REVIEWS
KAMEN RIDER J
“Kamen Rider J, the star of the one-off 1994 movie of the same name was released during the period of time where Kamen Rider was off Japanese television screens, and along with Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue and Kamen Rider ZO makes up a trilogy of films that neatly round off the franchise's Showa era… Of course with Keita Amemiya in the director’s chair the one thing Kamen Rider J can promise you is excellent visual effects… Solid entertainment at its very best.”- MyShinyToyRobots.com
“Keita Amemiya does not miss! If you like his state-of-the-art monster designs, great directing, and a bonanza of fantastic tokusatsu special effects, here's a small movie that's just blasting you with those qualities for 40 minutes. Short, sweet, to the point. Just a great fun watch.”- Letterboxd.com
