Tickets are now on sale for the highly anticipated film from Academy Award-winning director Takashi Yamazaki, GODZILLA MINUS ZERO (ゴジラ-0.0/ゴジラマイナスゼロ, Gojira Mainasu Zero). TOHO and GKIDS, the Academy Award-winning curator, producer, and distributor that was acquired by TOHO in 2024, also debuted a new IMAX poster. The new poster accompanies the announcement of IMAX Early Access screenings happening on November 3, also known as “Godzilla Day,” the anniversary of the theatrical release of the original 1954 Godzilla in Japan. The Godzilla Day IMAX Early Access will be followed by the wide release in both standard and premium formats on November 6.
The feature recently made its world premiere as the Spotlight Gala selection for the 64th New York Film Festival on September 26 to roaring reviews, and will host its UK premiere at BFI London Film Festival on October 14. GODZILLA MINUS ZERO will be released theatrically across North America beginning Friday, November 6. A full list of international territory release dates can be found at godzilla.com
Following the triumphant 2023 release of Toho's GODZILLA MINUS ONE, which boasted ingenious, Oscar-winning visual effects and an emotionally gripping back-to-basics storytelling approach, director Takashi Yamazaki returns with a supremely satisfying sequel. GODZILLA MINUS ZERO picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity. An experience that demands the big screen, featuring more astounding effects choreography than its predecessor, GODZILLA MINUS ZERO cranks up the terror while always keeping its post-WWII Japan narrative at human eye level.
Shot entirely in Japan as the first-ever Japanese production to be Filmed For IMAX, GODZILLA MINUS ZERO was shot with high-definition digital cameras certified by IMAX, and optimized in sound and imagery unique to IMAX screens. GODZILLA MINUS ZERO will hold Godzilla Day Early Access screenings exclusively in IMAX on November 3, ahead of its nationwide theatrical rollout on November 6. The globally beloved monster returns to movie theater screens reaching greater and more terrifying heights, making GODZILLA MINUS ZERO a true cinematic event not to be missed.
GODZILLA MINUS ZERO Synopsis:
War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life.
Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant.
There is no third time. Everything ends here.
