The theatrical release was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Toei has announced Part 2 will be released on February 11, 2021. Inspired by the Dead Moon story arc from the manga, the movie is a “Fighting Love Story” depicting Chibiusa Tsukino’s faint first love and the growth of the Sailor Guardians. The original author, Naoko Takeuchi, is in charge of supervision on the project, and the director is Chiaki Kon (SAILOR MOON CRYSTAL, BACK STREET GIRLS).
