• Kong
The King of Skull Island, the Monsterverse version of Kong was introduced in the 2017 movie, KONG: SKULL ISLAND. Standing over 330-feet tall, the giant primate is incredibly intelligent and strong, making him one of the greatest of all the Titans. More mountain than mammal, he walks upright on two legs, his towering form shaking the ground with each thunderous step.
While sharing a common ancestry with apes, Kong is a member of a superspecies beyond any existent categorization of life on Earth. Worshipped as a god by the Iwi, Kong has inspired a culture of reverence among the indigenous peoples of Skull Island. Across the sweep of his natural domain, his history has been memorialized through a series of sacred monuments. Intricately painted petroglyphs and tomes chart Kong's god-like rise to power.
In MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS, Kong is shown to tolerate the presence and activities of the Monarch crew and other humans, so long as they do not disrupt the lives of the Titans or other lifeforms on Skull Island. Any violations of his rules are met with extreme agression.
Kong appears in Episodes 201, 202, 203, 206, 209 and 210.

• Leafwing
Introduced in KONG: SKULL ISLAND, the Leafwing is a dangerous airborne predator from Skull Island and the Hollow Earth. The spikes along its bone trunk are laced with a powerful anesthetic agent that is deployed as the creature dive bombs its prey from on high, spearing prey with its weaponized snout. A sub-species of the Psychovulture, this creature takes its name from the frond wings that allow it to blend into the trees where it nests in large numbers.
The Leafwings are seen in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episodes 201, 204, and 210.

• Psychovulture
Perfectly evolved for domination of the skies, the Psychovulture grows to a wingspan of up to 9 feet. This winged bat-like predator is a creature of pure aggression that it self-induces psychoactive effects activated by ingesting a poisonous puffer fish indigenous to the waters of Skull Island. The mania this chemical agent induces drives the Psychovulture to attack and kill any lifeform it encounters.
The Psychovulture is able to fire a Lighting Blast from its mouth to stun it prey and adversaries. It was introduced in the 2017 comic book series Skull Island: The Birth of Kong. MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episode 201 marks their first appearance in live-action.

• Vinerat
A predator native to Skull Island’s underworld, the Vinerat is a low-slung, mole-like megafauna adapted for life in perpetual darkness. Though most often found in subterranean tunnel networks, it occasionally surfaces into abandoned structures and caves, drawn to vibration and the scent of decay. Its muscular body is covered in patchy, scabrous hide overgrown with viscous vine-like growths, giving it the appearance of a creature half animal, half overgrown by the earth itself. It hunts by sound and vibration, emitting a rasping chuff that reverberates through its environment before it strikes. When disturbed, it attacks with explosive speed in a blur of fangs, claws, and hanging vegetation erupting from the shadows of whatever dark place it calls home.
Early production materials for MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Season Two refer to the creature as the "Tunnel Rat" before the final name was chosen. The Vinerat makes its first and only appearance (to date) in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episode 201.

• Titan X
The main monster of MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS, Titan X is a massive bioluminous sea creature with long, spiked tentacles. The Monarch team first learns of monster in 1957 when Billy Randa (Anders Holm), Keiko Miura (Mari Yamamoto) and Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell) investigated sightings in the waters off Santa Soleda, Chile. The local villagers called it "El Gran Dios del Mar" (The Great God of the Sea) and honored it with a ceremony helf for Titan X's migration through the Pacific Ocean, which ocurred every 15 years.
While attempting to free Lee Shaw from Axis Mundi in 2017, Cate Randa (Anna Sawai) accidentally releases Titan X for its hibernation ahead of its scheduled migration. This disrupts the Titan's behavior, altering its migration route and bringing it into conflict with both Kong and Godzilla. Monarch eventually learns Titan X is not naturally aggressive and attempt to return the monster to Axis Mundi.
Titan X is introduced in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episode 201 and appears in every episode of the season.

• Scarab
First observed by Monarch operatives during the 1957 Santa Soledad event, the Scarabs are an arthropodic swarm organism that exist in direct biological resonance with Titan X. These bioluminescent creatures erupt from beneath the earth in conjunction with Titan X’s emergence, drawn to its energy signature as though to a gravitational source. The Scarabs are a singular symbiotic species, their life cycle bound entirely to Titan X’s own: when Titan X surfaces, they awaken.
Each individual Scarab carries ionized fluids that glow blue-white when near its host, the collective forming a living corona of light around Titan X’s massive body. Monarch’s official analysis indicates they are less an independent species than an external organ of Titan X herself: a swarm that embodies the heartbeat of their queen. When injured or threatened, a Scarab can emit a high-pitched sonic screech that can be heard over great distances.
The Scarabs are introduced in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episode 201 and appears in Episodes 202, 203, 204, 205 and 208.

• Needlewalker
Introduced in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Season Two, the Needlewalkers are a superspecies first seen being held in captivity at the Apex Cybernetics facility in Pensacola, FL.. the site that would later be destroyed by Godzilla in the 2021 movie GODZILLA VS. KONG.
Native to Skull Island, the Needlewalkers are tall (slightly larger than an ostritch), fleet-footed territorial prowlers whose movements blur the line between grace and violence. Covered in rigid dermal spines that flex and bristle with motion, these bipedal creatures carve deep grooves into stone and metal alike as they run, their momentum carrying the force of a small landslide. Each limb terminates in elongated digits tipped with needle-sharp talons capable of anchoring to rock or soil mid-stride. When sighted in groups, they display pack coordination and acoustic signaling that suggests a complex social structure. Monarch field teams recorded their distinctive quill arrays vibrating in unison during pursuit, behavior believed to aid in spatial awareness within subterranean darkness. Little else is known of their origin, but evidence indicates they are surface migrators from deep below, drawn upward through terrestrial fissures in response to seismic activity and Titan migration cycles.
The Needlewalkers appear in Episodes 204 and (briefly) 206.

• Vinestrangler
Native to the dense jungles surrounding the Skull Island river valleys, the Vinestrangler (Vitis Strangulari) blurs the boundary between insect and vegetation. Classified as florafauna within the ancient Tettigoniidae lineage, its leafy carapace and bark-like limbs weave seamlessly into the surrounding branches, rendering it indistinguishable from the trees that shelter it. To the untrained eye, a Vinestrangler appears to be part of the forest itself…until it moves.
Within the torso of the Vinestrangler lies a tightly wound mesh of reticulated tentacles. Any unfortunate life-form that walks beneath the branches of its host tree triggers vibrations within its roots that are immediately sent to the nervous system of the Vinestrangler, ensnaring its prey in a tangle of pulsing muscular tendrils. These tendrils then draw the victim up into its open belly, where it is slowly digested for up to seventy-two hours. Monarch field agents describe the aftermath as “a tree that devours.” For the Vinestrangler, patience is both camouflage and weapon.
Initially conceived but not used for the movie KONG: SKULL ISLAND, the Vinestranglers were first depicted in the film's Art and Making of book where they were misidentified as giant spiders. The creatures were correctly described in the Monarch Notes Appendix from the Skull Island: The Birth of Kong trade paperback published by Legendary Comics, and now make their live-action debut in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episodes 204 and 209.

• Godzilla
The King of the Monsters, the Monsterverse incarnation of Toho's Godzilla (designated Titanus Gojira by Monarch) made his debut in 2014's GODZILLA. Standing nearly 400-feet tall, he is a towering apex predator that rises from the mysterious depths of the ocean to battle aggressors that threaten the balance of nature. Propelled by his massive tail, Godzilla travels through various oceanic channels and the Hollow Earth vortexes on routine patrol routes.
Godzilla draws its immense power from a bio-nuclear circulatory system that activates when threatened, triggering a neutron flux that travels up its backspines to nucleosynthetic throat chambers where it explodes into a directed wave of atomic breath.
While referred to repeatedly throughout MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Season Two, his role is relatively small with a flashback to Season One in Episode 203, a great dream sequence in Episode 206 that depicts Godzilla in Tokyo, and then his battle with Titan X in Episode 208, followed by his pursuit of the monster in Episode 209.
Once convinced that Titan X has returned to Skull Island and will no longer be a problem to the outside world, Godzilla returns to his slumber deep undersea.

• Ion Dragon
The Ion Dragon is a large, horned predator that emits radiation while in flight. In 1943, it attacked the USS Lawton, leaving Bill Randa as the sole survivor. Decades later, it challenged and was killed by Godzilla in Axis Mundi.
First seen in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Season One, the Ion Dragon briefly returns in Episode 207 where it pursues Lee Shaw and attacks an Endopede.

• Endopede
Another original creaure from MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS, the Endopede is seen in Episodes 201 (Season 1 flashback), 207, and 210. A large insect-like subspecies from Hollow Earth, the Endopedes boast spiked carapaces and sharp mandibles for devouring any creatures they can catch.
Their larval form, the Endoswarm, and eggs, are also shown in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episodes 201and 207 in flashbacks from Season One of the show.

• Stampede Caterpillar
Introduced in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Episode 210, the Stampede Caterpillars are an insect-like superspecies native to Skull Island. They are non-agressive, social creatures, living together in groups known as a "caterpillar army." When threatened or frightened, the Stampede Caterpillars roll their bodies up head-to-tail like pill bugs and quickly rolll away. This action can unintentionally cause severe damage to any other lifeforms they run over.

• Rodan
The second classic Toho monster to appear in MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS, Rodan is featured in the final sequence of Episode 210 as a teaser for what will come in the show's third season.
Known in legends as the "Fire Demon" or "The One Born of Fire", the Monsterverse Incarnation of Rodan was introduced in the 2019 movie GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS. A volcanic internal combustion system of magma flows throughout a body covered in rock-like scales that act as geothermal armor. While much larger in size, Rodan has a skeletal structure similar to that of a Pteranodon - one of the earliest vertebrates known to have developed the power of flight. Just as Kong is the king of the primates, Rodan may have once been the king of the skies.
Rodan boasts a wingspan big enough to create a sonic thunderclap capable of leveling entire cities as it flies overhead. RF-Capture scans reveal that Rodan's skin is not made of rock, but does have an outer dermis of sharp volcanic sediment collected from centuries of dormancy. Sci-ops theorizes the vulcanized appearance of its skin may be an evolutionary trait developed as a form of camouflage against mountains or large rock formations. Truly, a Titan forged in fire.
