Studio Ghibli Fest 2026 slate debuts this summer with family-favorite PONYO. Tickets are on sale now for Oscar-winning director Hayao Miyazaki’s under-the-sea adventure.

When Sosuke, a young boy who lives on a clifftop overlooking the sea, rescues a stranded goldfish named Ponyo, he discovers more than he bargained for. Ponyo is a curious, energetic young creature who yearns to be human, but even as she causes chaos around the house, her father, a sorcerer, schemes to return Ponyo to the sea.

The heartwarming tale brimming with color returns to theatres this June for five nationwide screenings. PONYO will be shown in both original Japanese and English dubbed versions featuring the voices of Cate Blanchett, Noah Cyrus, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Frankie Jonas, Cloris Leachman, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin, and Betty White.

GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment are pleased to continue Studio Ghibli Fest with a seven-title lineup featuring TALES FROM EARTHSEA 20th Anniversary, which joins the Ghibli Fest lineup for the first time, ONLY YESTERDAY 35th Anniversary, CASTLE IN THE SKY 40th Anniversary, and concluding with the SPIRITED AWAY 25th Anniversary.

As well as the full feature, screenings will include a post-film clip of bonus feature, “Ponyo Theme Song Music Video”.

Tickets for PONYO can be purchased online by visiting GhibliFest.com, FathomEntertainment.com or at participating theatre box offices (Theatre participants are subject to change).

PONYO (崖の上のポニョ, Gake no Ue no Ponyo, 2008)

Perfect for audiences of all ages, PONYO centers on the friendship between five-year-old Sosuke and a magical goldfish named Ponyo, the young daughter of a sorcerer father and a sea-goddess mother. After a chance encounter, Ponyo yearns to become a human so she can be with Sosuke. As to be expected with Miyazaki, the film is awash in pure unbridled imagination and visual wonder — but it is the tender love, humor, and devotion exhibited by Ponyo and Sosuke that form the emotional heart of the film.
