I keep seeing these articles claiming that WW84 isn't a sequel and then you read the actual quotations (from people working on the film and claiming it's not a sequel) and see quite clearly that it is, in fact, a sequel. It's a sequel set several decades after the first film and maybe it has some differences in tone or something, but it's not a new continuity that breaks all ties to the film before it. I have to wonder if these morons even understand the definition of the word sequel.
Hey we made a new Star Wars movie called The Empire Strikes Back. It picks up plot points from the last film and features the same characters played by the same actors and references events in the first film. But it takes place on new planets and different things happen than in the first movie, so it's obviously not a sequel. *HARD eye roll*
