What. Utter. Garbage.
I've read the book many times, and not one scene in the trailer looks like it came from the pages. The CGI looks predictably bad, and the song choice is head-shakingly poor. The trailer looks like it's been cut with all the skill and precision of a first-year film school dropout, with so many comedic bits it wouldn't take much to have this be seen as a comedy. I've been waiting for this movie for years upon years, getting excited with every new advancement only to have it plunge back into development hell. If this is, indeed, the final product, I'd have gladly waited another decade if it meant getting something better.
Of course, this is only the first trailer. They have time to fix their mistakes for the most part, but they have to remember that old truism that you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
I'm not a hero. I'm not a savior. Forget what you know.
I'm just a man whose circumstances went beyond his control.
