Watched the trailer last night. Unfortunately there was not really much for me to get excited about, still I will see and support the film. I am not a *hater* on Bay or his interpretation of the TF's, but nor do I think the films are the greatest thing ever. To me, they are just kind of *there* after the second one. 3-Headed Dragon looks cool, Anthony Hopkins always gives a good performance, nice to hear his voice...but not much else.
I did think it seemed kind of silly that TF's could travel long distances (presumably without limit) in space, in previous films. But Prime, got frozen in space around Jupiter? (ok probably not Jupiter, but you know what I mean). It's like if I were to start out on a road trip from San Francisco to NYC, on one tank of gas, and think...yeah I'm good.
. Hopefully there will be an explanation.
Also my son (he's 10) of course was all panicked "Why is Optimus attacking Bumblebee!!!" After the trailer ended I calmly told him to think about all the times in various shows Optimus has either been replicated (various Nemesis Primes), or controlled by others. Trust me when I say it will all sort itself out.
And that planet appears to be a broken Cybertron (call back from DotM), though the horn in the desert...that has me asking questions.
Still though, I believe the law of diminishing returns is effecting my relationship with this franchise. The first film I saw 4 times in the theater, the second one- twice, the 3rd and 4th ones I took the day off work to watch an early matinee and only saw once in theater. I have the first 3 films on DVD, and the 4th on Blu-Ray all bought at discount prices. It's sad because with each film Bay seems to keep upping the ante with budget, effects, and run time, but the "ooh- ahhh" factor is less each time. Each of the first 4 films there was at least one particular character I looked forward to seeing onscreen, in this thus far there aren't any. Hopefully the next trailer that comes out in a few months will offer something to be marginally excited about.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.
