What I mean is I can't believe the rights issues still have not been resolved. No one is making any money of this film and it's a total shame.
Not only is it a great Godzilla film, but it's got a bit of a cult film status in the mainstream as well. It bothers me that something a company spent millions of dollars on and hundreds of people worked hard on is just sitting in limbo doing nothing and nobody involved seems to care enough to make something happen. Toho probably doesn't care all that much because they've got "Return of Godzilla" (though they care enough to prevent another company from doing it), but to me it is almost a completly different film. Godzilla 1985 is what I saw in theaters as an 8 year old boy (and rented on VHS every chance I got) and Godzilla 1985 is what I want on DVD.
If AB does not own it and Lakeshore does not own it then who's rights is Toho waiting for to expire so they can resell them? Makes no sense.
New World does not exist.
