Years later, Tanaka sought to recreate Godzilla's incredible box office success by repeating that formula for Toho's 1961 production MOTHRA (モスラ, Mosura), turrning to authors Shin'ichiro Nakamura, Takehiko Fukunaga and Yoshie Hotta.
