At a time when the average Japanese movie was made in 4-6 weeks at a budget of approximately $75,000 US, the studio decided to produce not one, but three films that would require much more time and money. The first (and most expensive) of these was Akira Kurosawa`s SEVEN SAMURAI (Shichinin no Samurai). SciFi Japan is now press approved by most of the Japanese film studios and production companies. The great news is that this gives us unique access (for an English language news outlet) to a steady stream of Japanese press releases, high-res images, videos and production notes. The downside is we`re receiving these materials at a faster rate than our team can translate them. So we`re putting out a call for Japanese-to-English translators. SciFi Japan is a volunteer operation -- everyone involved with the site donates their time and work -- so this is not a paying position, but there are some perks involved... • SFJ is press registered with most of the major studios, production companies and video labels in the US and Japan including Warner Bros., Kadokawa, NTV, Walt Disney, Shochiku, TBS, Sony Pictures, Nikkatsu, VIZ Media, Universal, FUNimation, 20th Century Fox and
