Today capelight pictures announced the U.S. release of the visually stunning, genre-bending Thai sci-fi fantasy adventure PROJECT GENESIS (ตาคลี เจเนซิส, Taklee Genesis, 2024), available on digital platforms and in physical formats (UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD) on October 21, 2025.
Directed by visionary Thai filmmaker Chookiat Sakveerakul (13 BELOVED, LOVE OF SIAM), the film is a breathtaking, high-concept journey that fuses time-travel science fiction with kaiju monsters, dinosaurs, cavemen, and zombies—a bold cinematic mashup that spans over 7,000 years of history.
Project Genesis stars Paula Taylor (THE PARALLEL), Peter Corp Dyrendal (FABULOUS 30), Wanarat Ratsameerat (JACK & JOKER), and Nutthacha Jessica Padovan (DEATH WHISPERER 2).
It was written by Chookiat Sakveerakul, Thanamas Dhalerngsuk, and Sorawit Muangkaew, and produced by Monaiya Tharasak, Nakorn Phopairoj, and Kaweenipon Ketprasit.
Scientist and single mother Stella (Paula Taylor) returns to her hometown after years away. One night, she receives a mysterious transmission on an old radio—it's her long-lost father, missing for decades and now trapped in space within an alternate time configuration. To rescue him, Stella must track down the Genesis Machine, a relic of a classified CIA project hidden in Thailand. Her quest launches her into a kaleidoscopic journey through time and space—one that will pit her against prehistoric beasts, ancient tribes, mutant creatures, and the boundaries of reality itself.
A striking blend of practical effects, CGI spectacle, and emotional storytelling, Project Genesis cements Sakveerakul’s reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s most imaginative genre filmmakers. The film received acclaim in its original release for its ambitious scope, inventive production design, and cross-genre storytelling.

ABOUT Chookiat Sakveerakul
20 years ago, Chookiat “Matthew” Sakveerakul, made his feature-length film directing and screenwriting debut with EVIL (2004) at the age of only 23. Throughout the years, he has made many films regarded as Thai cinema milestones, such as 13: GAME OF DEATH (2006) which was remade as a Hollywood film 13 SINS (2014), THE LOVE OF SIAM (2007) which won the Best Film awards in all local competitions that year, as well as HOME: LOVE, HAPPINESS, REMEMBRANCE (2012), GREAN FICTION (2013) and DEW (2019).
Apart from his directing works, Chookiat co-wrote with Eakasit Thairaat with whom he made 13: GAME OF DEATH the screenplay of BODY (2007), directed by Paween Purijitpanya, and INHUMAN KISS (2019), directed by Sitisiri Mongkolsiri.
This year, Chookiat is back with the most ambitious project in his 20-year filmmaking career PROJECT GENESIS.
