Pony Canyon has revealed the “Global Visual” and a special trailer for the upcoming anime series, THIS MONSTER WANTS TO EAT ME (私を喰べたい、ひとでなし, Watashi o Tabetai, Hito de Nashi).

A beautiful yet heart-wrenching tale of a girl and a monster, the anime is based on the manga of the same name, which was selected in the Unique Story/Art category of “You Should Read This Manga 2025” powered by MyAnimeList. THIS MONSTER WANTS TO EAT MEhas also been drawing worldwide attention, with a panel exhibition confirmed for PONY CANYON MATSURI 2025 at Japan Expo in Paris, France and two convention appearances in the United States.

    Story

"I've come to eat you," so softly utters the mermaid Shiori as she emerges from the sea and takes high school girl Hinako by the hand. Hinako lives alone in a town by the sea and possesses an unusually delicious body that is irresistible to nearby monsters. To ensure that she matures to the best condition, Shiori seeks to protect Hinako—all so that someday, she can devour every piece of her. A longing thought comes to Hinako's mind; "Maybe this monster can make my wish come true."

    ■ The Global Visual - “I’ve come to devour you”

The newly released Global Visual (see image to the upper right) depicts the half-yokai form of Shiori, who is one of the main characters from the story.

The contrast between the ocean-blue eye and the eerily glowing yellow eye, along with the mermaid-like hand covered in scales and tipped with long, sharp claws — the image of Shiori with a faint smile leaves a striking impression, conveying the allure of Japanese yokai (monster) culture to audiences worldwide.
