Since first appearing in 1954, the kaiju “Godzilla” has captivated and shocked audiences not only in Japan but around the world. Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, GODZILLA MINUS ONE—a commemorative film for Godzilla's 70th anniversary and the 30th live-action Godzilla film produced in Japan—has surpassed ¥7.65 billion in box office revenue. Furthermore, it achieved the remarkable feat of winning over 50 top awards at film festivals both in Japan and abroad, including the Academy Award for Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, the first time an Asian film has won this honor. This truly sparked a global “Godzilla” phenomenon.

At the "Godzilla Fest 2025" held at TDC Hall on "Godzilla Day," Monday, November 3rd (National Holiday), the title of the new Godzilla film, which director Yamazaki will direct, write, and handle VFX for, was finally revealed!

The title is GODZILLA-0.0 (GODZILLA MINUS ZERO).

 

11 月 3 日(月・祝)“ゴジラの日”に TDC ホールにて開催された「ゴジラ・フェス 2025」にて、これまで一切の情報 が明かされていなかった、山崎監督が監督・脚本・VFX を務める新作ゴジラのタイトルがついに明らかになりまし た!

タイトルは「ゴジラ-0.0」(ゴジラマイナスゼロ)

 

Also released at the same time was the boldly rendered title logo for the new Godzilla film.

Similar to the previous film, GODZILLA MINUS ONE, which sparked a global Godzilla frenzy, the title logo created by director Takashi Yamazaki has been unveiled. With no other information released beyond the title—no release date, no story details—the mystery surrounding GODZILLA MINUS ZERO remains. What exactly does this title signify?

さらに同時に解禁されたのは、荒々しく書かれたゴジラ新作のタイトルロゴ。

界中にゴジラ大旋風を巻き起こした、前作の『ゴジラ-1.0』と同様、山崎貴監督が書いたタイトルロゴがお披露 目されました。公開日やストーリーなど、タイトル以外の情報は全く解禁されることなく、謎に包まれたままの 『ゴジラ-0.0』 “マイナスゼロ”が示す意味はいったい何なのか。

Born in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture in 1964. He was deeply influenced by STAR WARS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND when he was a child, and decided to pursue a career in special effects. After graduating from Asagaya College of Art and Design, he joined Shirogumi Inc. in 1986. He worked on special effects and digital compositing for films directed by Juzo Itami, including THE LAST DANCE (大病人, Daibyōnin, 1993) and A QUIET LIFE (静かな生活, Shizukana Seikatsu, 1995). He made his directorial debut with JUVENILE (ジュブナイル, Jubunairu) in 2000, and is a leading figure in the field of visual effects and VFX, utilizing advanced CG visuals.

His movie ALWAYS -SUNSET ON THIRD STREET- (ALWAYS 三丁目の夕日, Ōruweizu: San-chōme no Yūhi, 2005), garnered acclaim for its VFX depiction of Showa-era cityscapes, replete with heartwarming humanity, vitality, and atmosphere. The film won 12 awards at the 29th Japan Academy Prize, including Best Picture and Best Director.  His films THE ETERNAL ZERO (永遠の0, Eien no Zero, 2013) and STAND BY ME DORAEMON (STAND BY ME ドラえもん, Sutando Bai Mī Doraemon, 2014) won a combined nine awards at the 38th Japan Academy Prize, including Best Picture and Best Animated Film.

Furthermore, for GODZILLA MINUS ONE, where he served as director, screenwriter, and VFX supervisor, he achieved the first-ever Visual Effects Award for a Japanese film at the 96th Academy Awards. He is counted among Japan's leading film directors.

1964 年、長野県松本市生まれ。幼少期に『スターウォーズ』や『未知との遭遇』と出会い、強く影響を受け、特撮の道に 進むことを決意。阿佐ヶ谷美術専門学校卒業後、1986 年に株式会社白組に入社。『大病人』(93)、『静かな生活』(95) など、伊丹十三監督作品にて SFX やデジタル合成などを担当。2000 年『ジュブナイル』で監督デビュー。CG による高 度なビジュアルを駆使した映像表現・VFX の第一人者。

『ALWAYS 三丁目の夕日』(05)では、心温まる人情や活気、 空気感を持つ昭和の街並みを VFX で表現し話題になり、第 29 回日本アカデミー賞最優秀作品賞・監督賞など 12 部 門を受賞。『永遠の 0』(13)、『STAND BY ME ドラえもん』(14)は、それぞれ第38回日本アカデミー賞最優秀作品賞ほか 8部門、最優秀アニメーション作品賞を受賞。

また、監督・脚本・VFX を担当した『ゴジラ-1.0』(23)では、第 96 回アカデミー賞🄬で日本映画初の視覚効果賞受賞を 果たした。日本を代表する映画監督の一人として数えられる。
