AMC Network’s HIDIVE is bringing fans a “summer of love” with today’s announcement that the highly anticipated sequel season CALL OF THE NIGHT Season 2 (よふかしのうた, Yofukashi no Uta) will stream exclusively on the popular anime streaming service for Summer 2025. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of this beloved supernatural romance drama ever since the end of the series’ first season in September 2022. Based on the award-winning and just completed 200 chapter-long shonen manga title by creator Kotoyama, CALL OF THE NIGHT Season 2 continues the love story between a high school boy (Ko) and a female vampire (Nazuna) first introduced in Season 1, which was instant hit with audiences around the world—and quickly earned the series fan-favorite status. Additionally, as part of today’s news, HIDIVE released the new season’s official English subtitled trailer as well as revealed that a special CALL OF THE NIGHT Season 2 panel will be held on Saturday, July 5 at Anime Expo 2025 and features a sneak peek of Episode 2 (first half of episode) plus post-screening Q&A.
“We’re excited to present the highly anticipated sequel season CALL OF THE NIGHT Season 2 to fans this July as part of our upcoming Summer 2025 simulcast season,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “This stand-out supernatural romance drama with its human/vampire love story has captured the hearts of audiences everywhere and was overnight fan favorite when Season 1 premiered in 2022. Ever since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Season 2. Well it’s here! And it will not disappoint!”
Ko overcomes his confusion about becoming a vampire and decides to "like" Nazuna, while Nazuna resolves to make Ko "fall in love" with her. Without understanding what "love" even is, the two of them spend their nights together in a frenzy. Meanwhile, Detective Uguisu Anko is closing in with her plot to kill vampires, not just Nazuna. A vampire's weakness is "anything they were attached to when they were human" and so they all try to get rid of this weakness before it's too late. But, Nazuna has no memory of her human life. What is Nazuna's hidden past? Why did Anko start killing vampires? And what is the "secret" that Nazuna and Anko share? For Ko, Nazuna, Anko, a fun "late night" doesn't end here... a new "night" begins!
CALL OF THE NIGHT Season 2 is adapted from the manga title written and illustrated by Kotoyama. Originally launched and continuously published in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2019, CALL OF THE NIGHT concluded with its 200th chapter in January 2024 and spans a total of 20 volumes. The English language versions of the manga is available from Viz Media.
The new season is directed by Tomoyuki Itamura along with writing by Michiko Yokote, character design by Haruka Sagaw and production by Liden Films. CALL OF THE NIGHT Season 2 stars Sora Amamiya as Nazuna Nanakusa, Gen Sato as Ko Yamori, Yumiri Hanamori as Akira Asai, Haruka Tomatsu as Seri Kikyo, Eri Kitamura as Niko Hirata, Shizuka Ito as Kabura Honda and Naomi Ozora as Midori Kohakobe.
