    “Godzilla The Art Exhibition” Official Catalogue Now On Sale

    The "Godzilla 70th Anniversary Godzilla The Art Exhibition" (ゴジラ生誕70周年記念 ゴジラ・THE・アート展,  Gojira Seitan 70 Sshūnenkinen Gojira THE Āto-ten) is currently being held at the Mori Arts Center Gallery (52nd floor, Roppongi Hills Mori Tower) (organized by The Asahi Shimbun Company, PARCO, and Toho). It is a large-scale exhibition of Godzilla and contemporary art, bringing together new works created by artists from Japan and abroad who are active in a variety of genres and who have faced Godzilla, thought about it, and created it. It is part of the project "GODZILLA THE ART," a series of events that kicked off in April 2023. In addition to presenting how artists interpret Godzilla, there will be an exclusive diorama that fuses Godzilla and art, and a special video created especially for this exhibition. The event ends on Sunday, June 29, 2025, 

    The official catalogue for "Godzilla The Art Exhibition" is now on sale at the venue. This bilungual (Japanese and English text) publication includes 28 art pieces exhibited at the exhibition "Godzilla The Art Exhibition," as well as photos of the exhibition space destroyed by Godzilla, photos where you can experience Godzilla's presence from the entire venue, and newly taken photos of a diorama by the art company Toho Eizo Bijutsu that combines Godzilla and art.

    The catalogue also features interviews that unravel Godzilla from an artistic perspective, such as "Godzilla and Poster Art" (designer Idea Oshima), "Godzilla and Sculptural Art" (Toho monster maker Shinichi Wakasa, concept artist Keita Okada), "Godzilla and CG" (CG director Takuya Uenishi), and "Godzilla and Architecture" (Tokyo Build, Kohei Sugiyama, Junichi Fujikawa, Ryuji Ofuna). This is a must-have book that allows you to enjoy Godzilla from various angles while looking back on Godzilla's 70th anniversary.

    Godzilla celebrated his 70th anniversary in 2024. A global icon since his first theatrical release in 1954, Godzilla has shown the world various, ever-changing expressions over the past 7 decades with a total of 38 films  produced and released, including 30 domestic films, 3 animated films, and 5 Hollywood versions. These depictions are not the same, and their appearance and concept are constantly changing with the times.

    This exhibition is a large-scale exhibition of Godzilla through contemporary art, that brings together new works by domestic and international artists active in a variety of genres who have faced, thought about, and created Godzilla. Please come to the venue to see how the artists interpret "Godzilla". In addition, you can explore the charm of Godzilla through a diorama that combines Godzilla and art, which can only be seen at this exhibition, and also a special video created for this exhibition.
