I like how Minus Zero evokes Monster Zero, although I certainly don't think that's a hint that King Ghidorah will be in this.

I think the intended meaning of the title is akin to a rocket launch countdown. "T minus ten seconds, nine, eight...", you know? Calling this new movie Godzilla Minus Zero emphasizes that it's what comes next after Godzilla Minus One. It boldly suggests that Minus One was just the warm-up, the countdown to Minus Zero. The title declares that this movie is the main event.

Fingers crossed a UK release is around the same sort of time too! It feels weird thinking that we'll be getting a new Godzilla film *this year* rather than just at some nebulous far-off time, but now it's official!

^ I'm sure Anime Limited will release it in the UK like they did Minus One, especially after Toho's recent acquisition. SciFi Japan posted the new press release from GKids and Toho, which emphasizes how GKids was acquired by Toho and is now the North American distributor.

The new season of Monarch starts next month, Godzilla Minus Zero is coming this November and then Godzilla x Kong: Supernova arrives the following March. This is the best kind of deja vu!

I'm glad they're not keeping next week's Cinemacon footage exclusive for any amount of time. If anything it looks like it'll be going up pretty much simultaneously with the convention showing.

The only real question now is, are they going to tease/show Godzilla's inevitable opponent in this opening teaser, or hold off until later? Because with all the amount of times Yamazaki's been talking about the possibility of Godzilla going up against another monster in the sequel there's no way that aint happening.

I just had a HUGE trailer reveal spoiled for me by a major movie news site while scrolling social media, so be very careful during these last few hours! Damn that site, that would have been so cool not to know until the trailer showed it.

It's such a shame these muppet outlets spoiled that last shot. That would have been awesome not to know about ahead of time.

I like how this looks to be working the Americans into the events of the first film at the start of this teaser. Its definitely makes it sound like the Americans have a new superweapon or something, but no way is it going to be the oxygen destroyer, right? Obviously "third drop" is a third atomic bomb, but the previous line sounds like he's referring to something different.

And that one other crazy shot! There's no way that's Ghidorah's now *blue* gravity beams? But the effect sure looks the same! Could they be going the route of having Ghidorah be an American-made superweapon that gets out of control and that Godzilla heads to America to fight? So much speculation based on so little footage, but it looks awesome! I'm definitely hyped!

Fingers crossed Yamazaki can pull it off once again!

Truly a "teaser" in that we're given a few intriguing moments and visuals... but not too much! Just enough to hook us.

Wow, talk about making every shot count. Now that we have 48 seconds to work with, it's time for some wild speculation.

First, it's interesting that the title and gravity beams seem to be implying the other kaiju will be Ghidorah. I'd assumed it would be Hedorah, considering the infection tease at the end of Minus One and Yamazaki being on record as being a fan of that kaiju. Perhaps Toho pressured him to go with a more recognisable adversary? Or maybe one will be the main antagonist in this movie and the other will be set up for Godzilla Minus Infinity in 2029?

Then again, looking at this teaser's two shots of Godzilla makes me wonder: are those shots really of the same creature? The statue of liberty shot is the recognisable Minusgoji in colour and design. But the seaplane shot shows almost black colouration and additional spikes on the shoulders. Maybe it's just a difference in lighting and camera angles. Maybe Godzilla mutates as a result of futher nuclear blasts (could the weapon mentioned at the beginning be an H-bomb?). Maybe he's infected by Hedorah. Or maybe this is Hedorah pulling a Mechagodzilla '74 and mimicking Godzilla. So many possibilities. So hard to figure out anything from what we've seen. Perfect teaser. XD

After thinking about it a little more, I'm convinced it's Ghidorah he'll be facing off against. Yamazaki's spoken multiple times about how Minus One's title had multiple meanings, and hinted that Minus Zero's title does too. And with that one shot apparently showing gravity beams at work, albeit blue rather than yellow, I'm wondering if this movie will give us a Ghidorah who's spawned from a remnant of Godzilla after he breaks apart at the end of the previous film; thus one of the meanings of the title is that Godzilla is *literally* minus (Monster) Zero in this one, because that part of him has broken off and mutated into another monster.

Either way, unless it's a surprise appearance from Dogorah, Ghidorah's the only other monster who could do what we're seeing there. The only other explanation would be a new power from Godzilla a la Shin, but with how many times Yamazaki's talked about "wouldn't it be interesting to see Godzilla fight another monster in a sequel?", I'm not putting money on that.

Plus like you said Dai, Toho might have just been like "look, Minus One was received incredibly well around the world and we're going to give Minus Zero a BIG push, so let's really maximise our chances of people loving this one too and get Ghidorah in there." Though hell, perhaps he'll combine elements of Hedorah with Ghidorah, if that's who he really wanted but Toho wouldn't allow it? Maybe we'll get some crazy new interpretation of him where he's also got plague-like powers *on top* of being spawned from Godzilla's cells?! Regardless of his origins though, I'm now 100% expecting Ghidorah to be in this. The only question is how obvious they make that in the future marketing.

The big joke now is saying that the anti-gravity scene is proof that Anguirus, now with anti-gravity powers, will be in this movie. This is resulting in facetious fan art of Anguirus using said powers against Godzilla. Fun stuff!

I still don't see Godzilla Minus Zero being a "vs" movie with Godzilla battling one or more other monsters. Minus One established him as a true nightmare, the big bad whose very existence is the central conflict for everyone, and this teaser for Minus Zero (which looks fantastic) seems to be leaning into that same angle. Godzilla is once again the center of the action and he looks absolutely menacing. I don't see this movie shifting gears in the third act to become a kaiju slugfest with Godzilla inadvertently protecting humanity from an even more threatening monster.

I could see another monster showing up early in the film just to be slaughtered by Godzilla but this teaser has me doubting that there will be any other monsters at all. The only way I picture Minus Zero being a Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah movie is if Ghidorah has a heroic role like in GMK, which certainly is possible considering how much GMK influence is on display in Minus One. I don't think Ghidorah will be in this though. As for that shot of what appears to be building rubble suspended high in the air amid strands of luminescent blue energy, I think that looks like some new residual effect in the midst of Godzilla using his atomic breath or even his nuclear pulse, similar to how his atomic explosion in Ginza first emitted a shockwave that knocked everything away before then pulling things inward. It looks like an exciting action sequence in which Shikishima faces off with Godzilla in a city and has to dodge his atomic breath while flying through the destruction.

That shot could certainly be showing some new power Godzilla's going to have in this one, since the energy effects were blue rather than yellow after all. And Yamazaki's talked about Shin Godzilla being one of his favourite Godzilla films before, so with how much influence GMK had on Minus One, I could see him working a bit of Shin influence into this one by giving Godzilla an ability we've never seen before. It looks like it's going to be a cool sequence either way!

Besides that shot though, I'm mostly going off of how often he floated the possibility of Godzilla fighting another monster in the sequel, before this was announced, as the main reason I'm expecting one to show up in this. That's why I'll be interested to see if they confirm that in any more trailers, or if they'll stick to just showing Godzilla as the only threat in the film (whether he turns out to be or not). But in terms of this teaser alone, even if Ghidorah's in the film for sure, I'm not entirely surprised they still wanted to focus on Godzilla here. The trailers for G'14 focused almost entirely on Godzilla being the threat in that film, with only one or two shots of the MUTOs, and even some character's lines edited to make it sound like they were talking about Godzilla when they were really referring to the MUTOs. Then the movie came out and it turned out to be almost a "stealth Showa film", with Godzilla as the good guy and the MUTOs driving the story more than he did. So they could totally just be wanting to have this teaser do the job of letting people know the movie's coming but not give us a big reveal of another monster just yet.

Or they could continue to have more trailers that only feature Godzilla because Godzilla's the only one in the film. Pre-release it's a lot easier to say "maybe they're just not showing Ghidorah yet!" than definitively proving he's going to be in the movie without them actually showing or announcing it. Still, I'm definitely thinking that's what's going to happen, but regardless I'm hyped that we're getting a sequel that, even with just this little bit they've shown, already looks like it's going to be so good!
