I finally saw this last night. It's surprisingly good. Definitely the best Zack Snyder movie I've seen (the others being 300 and his Dawn of the Dead remake). The action was really well done and slo-mo was only used to dramatic effect, not that constant start/stop action of 300.
Henry Cavill really sells the role of Superman and makes it his own, treading different ground than Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh. I thought having him meet Lois Lane on the Kryptonian ship in the arctic was a cool way of bringing them together and having her get to know him as Superman first rather than as Clark Kent is an interesting spin on things. General Zod is pretty cartoonishly evil here, his lines crafted to be as dastardly as possible, but I liked that. Superman is the archetypal good guy anyway so that dynamic works well here. It was cool seeing Zod adjust to the same heightened abilities on Earth that we saw Superman deal with as a kid.
I liked the ending. It really seemed to set things up for a Superman sequel rather than a crossover with a pre-established Batman. It'll be interesting to see how things go from here.
