^It's seems the native Earthlings are gonna be based on the Infant Islanders in the same way the two alien races in PotM are based off aliens from classic Godzilla films.

Looks good! The native Earth-icans bring a much needed expanded color palette with them, Haruo is getting kissed by his childhood friend and that priest dude (emotionally confusing), and Godzilla looks more gnarly then the little Godzilla from the first installment.

Planet of the Monsters has actually grown on me a bit, so I'm pretty excited for this one.

I'm just not feeling this trailer. I'll grant that Part 2 looks more colourful and possibly better animated, but I can't imagine it'll be a step up from Part 1 otherwise. Still, I might as well watch it to be certain.

My main contention with the anime, is that the world building and tech is super interesting. The story was engaging in round one.

But they are f*cking up core Godzilla more than Shin. I have never liked this plant angle. Making Godzilla super-biggerer is juvenile. Godzilla's powers are over the top, but also totally wrong at the same time.

Try it again.

As strange as it sounds, I don't think this Godzilla series is made for Godzilla fans at all, but more towards today's video game crowd. I've seen a few of my friends who are not Godzilla fans by any means but enjoyed POTM. I didn't hate POTM, but I didn't particularly love it. I just thought it was okay.

The new trailer looks fine. I just hope the movie itself is a lot better than the previous. I'm okay seeing Mechagodzilla again, but I much rather prefer if they created an original monster. But I am not looking forward to Mothra again, which it seems like that's what they're pointing towards if not in this one but the next. We'll see what happens...

"Worse than GINO" doesn't shock me, I guess.

Now, if I find it worse than Tokyo SOS, then I'll be shocked.

I wish I wanted to watch the movie. I've tried to work up some enthusiasm, but... maybe it's that a big part of my love of this genre is tied to the visual appeal of giant monsters existing alongside flesh and blood humans in real environments? I dunno.

It's definitely NOT the worst thing ever. I think if someone is not a fan of anime, they will have issues no matter what. It is by no means great, but again, I tend to compare this with other anime as opposed to other Godzilla films seeing as how it is a different medium altogether. Considering there has been so much (unwatchable by my standards) anime in the last decade, this was actually breath of fresh air. I'm Still saddened by the increased used of CG rather than 2D, but there's not much I can do about that. I'd vastly prefer a throwback from the 70's, 80's. a "monster-of-the-week" type show, with some greater overarching themes, but this, while not what I wanted, could have been much, much worse.
