^ meh.

Seriously, the original is a masterpiece, the second movie was surprisingly good. All went downhill after that.

BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I loved Prometheus for like, most of its running time. The tacked-on Alien bit at the end was egregiously bad and most of the shoe-horning into the Alien universe aside from a few bits here and there hurt it as well. It was like 90% interesting movie that expanded the universe, and 10% fan pandering nonsense.

This looks like 90% pandering nonsense and 10% of a movie that I want to see. There are shots just lifted directly from the previous movies, and it really looks like they've jettisoned almost everything that made Prometheus so engaging while it unfolded.

I'm sure there is a bit more to the movie than the trailer is showing...

I just hope it doesn't have the obscenely dumb characters that Prometheus had. I love what that movie is about but God Damn most of the characters were poorly executed with the exception of David and Weyland.

They have some major explaining to do as to why David is back with a full body and why Shaw isn't in the trailer.

Some parts looked great like when they were on the planet from the opening of Prometheus and the dude that had something going on with his back. Other parts looked generic and redundant such as the shower scene and the facehugger scene.

Going to make a huge assumption on David in this movie :

That two minute trailer was already much better than anything about the Prometheus film.

It looks simply like another Alien film.

I suppose whether that's a good or bad thing depends on the person's point of view.

How David Fincher's twisting of the 20th Century Fox fanfare set the stage for the ballsiest ALIEN movie ever.

Lots of Alien stuff, but it also sells the film having it's own identity moreso than that last trailer.

Not watching the first 5 minutes preview or the new trailer since I don't believe I need to see anything more.

However, I'm worried that this movie is going to forget about the Engineers story and "complete it" in like the opening scene. Also, I'm really hoping the cast of this movie are actually characters and not cannon fodder, but that is probably hoping too much.

Is ‘Alien: Covenant’ an ‘Alien’ Prequel or a ‘Prometheus’ Sequel?

Everything new I see and hear about this movie makes it sound worse and worse...

I'm sad about the Prometheus sequel getting twisted into a standard Alien film. :(

^ I would rather see Prometheus 2 (also would rather the Xeno didn't appear at the end of Prometheus) - but this looks like a decent entry into the Aliens franchise. Also kind of refreshing to see all the wide open areas as opposed to trying mimic the claustrophobia of the first film again. Cautiously optimistic on account of Ridley Scott being a consistently competent director.

I enjoy Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. I don't accept them as being part of Alien/Aliens in the same universe, but I can still enjoy them. They look amazing etc.

I kind of feel you can only do so much with the genre at this point and all that is left is "Let's just have fun with the franchise." Alien Covenant has an amazing look. That Xenomorph is god damned beautiful at the end there but the trailers so far doesn't inspire much in me. The best Alien thing that has come out in the past 10 years was Alien: Isolation. It was like an extended movie for Alien. Loved it.
