^ and Lauren Faust's Medusa was scrapped, too. Sony scuttled two interesting and exciting films so they could scrape the absolute bottom of the barrel instead.

At least the 4 seconds for that new Smurf movie looked promising. The Emoji movie strikes me as the people behind it trying to leverage some aspects of Pixar's Inside Out but with emoji because "all the kids are into them".
I'm still highly disappointed that Genndy Tartakovsky's Popeye movie was scuttled.
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?

Early reviews for the film suggest viewers might get more out of the emojis on their smartphones than the ones portrayed on the big screen.
