... which reminds me: when I watched PacRim 2 I wondered if Raleigh could even pilot a Jaeger anymore. After the events at the beginning of the film his left arm (his left side?) is shot, so he's in the opposite spot in the cockpit for the rest of the film, then largely the same thing happens to him when his (the Jeager's) arm is ripped off in the final fight.

Anyway, I feel Raleigh's story is pretty well wrapped up at the end of the first movie. I'm more concerned with Mako, the two scientists, and Hannibal Chau returning. I also would like Tendo back. Herc Hanson might have left the Jeager program after the death of his son, but he did seem the one most likely to replace Pentecost.

Since that article lists no source for the that piece of news, I'm gonna wait for confirmation. GDT has said a lot of the cast is returning.

I was hoping Raleigh would be the new marshal in PR2....I wanted Mako to be in it as well, perhaps in some role similar to Tendo in the first film....

*Just a Random side note...I just read on Wiki Rinko Kikuchi is married...to a man 12 years Younger than her. He is 23, she is 35. Man...good for both of them. Although I am older than her IRL, If I could have found someone like her when I was 23, I would have totally gone for it as well . .

Emily Carmichael, the writer for PacRim2, will direct the Lumberjanes movie. Yup, it's pretty cool.

DeKnight tweeted that they're wrapping up major casting, so we should know just who's in this movie pretty soon.

I read a rumor a while back that the film would essentially be focused on a 'Jeager Academy,' with the new characters as students and the returning ones as instructors.

Grain of salt, naturally, but fun to think about. That was one of the ideas GDT had (was it for the animated spinoff?) and DeKnight essentially said the movie mines several concepts from GDT and Co.'s pile of follow up ideas.

But seriously; I'm glad the film continues the diverse, world-saving-the-world cast of characters that the first film had. I just hope we'll be getting some word on what original cast members are returning soon.

Several articles have cited the 'Maelstrom' name, but I'm not sure that's confirmed. That was what GDT was gonna call his initial proposed sequel, and this is gonna be a different movie (albiet based on some of the concepts and ideas GDT had for sequels).

Japanese American actor Mackenyu has been cast in the movie, and as the 2015 movie Kamen Rider and real life son of Sonny Chiba I think he's uniquely qualified for the job. He also posted a gif of the top of some official looking letterhead for the film which indeed had the title 'Maelstrom.'
