I know Wonka gets the lion's share of the press - but jeez: Young Frankenstein! Wilder's performance in that movie? Maybe the greatest comic performance of all time! Then you have his other fantastic work for Brooks in The Producers and Blazing Saddles. I mean, I know he had a big career and did lots of films, but I think even if he'd only done those four his legend would be secure.

So long, Waco Kid.

Loved Gene in any film I saw him in, but perhaps his most underrated role was the lead in ''THE FRISCO KID''(he& Harrison Ford played off one another rather well in that flick.)Rest In Peace,Gene;thanks for all the happy memories...

Willy Wonka was one of the staples of my childhood that i always come back to as "happy place" films. It's sad that my childhood heroes are passing away.

The day I was born, "The Producers" with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel was the number one movie. Anyone can check out the top movie on the day they were born -

Hearing about Wilder's death was like being punched in the gut. Any time I eat chocolate, I cannot help to think about Wonka.

^And Fox and Fathom Events will be brining Young Frankenstein into theaters (hosted by Mel Brooks himself) on October 5! That's unmissable right there.

He was good as the first Willy Wonka. It was the first movie that I saw him in. I later saw some of his other movies. He will be missed by his fans.

The encore showing — presented along with a taped segment of Brooks' Oct. 5 appearance — has been scheduled for Oct. 18.
